Trump reaches out to Savannah Guthrie as the search for her missing mother escalates
The President has extended federal assistance following the disappearance of NBC host Nancy Guthrie's 84-year-old mother from her Arizona residence on Saturday.

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump reached out to Savannah Guthrie, co-host of NBC's "Today" show, amid the growing concern for her missing mother, as reported by Fox News Digital. A White House representative verified to Fox News Digital on Wednesday afternoon that Trump had a conversation with Guthrie. However, no further information regarding the call was disclosed. Nancy Guthrie, Guthrie's 84-year-old mother, has been unaccounted for since she disappeared from her home in Arizona, with her last sighting occurring on Saturday.

The president has pledged extra federal assistance in the ongoing search for the elderly woman on Tuesday, mentioning that he plans to contact Savannah Guthrie. "I think it's terrible," Trump expressed to the press on Tuesday. "I'm going to call [Savannah Guthrie] later on. I think it's a terrible thing. … Very unusual situation, but we're going to find out." Nancy Guthrie was last spotted at her Tucson residence around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, as reported by the Pima County Sheriff's Department. Sheriff Chris Nanos stated on Monday that "we do, in fact, have a crime," although he has not disclosed further information.

"Blood drops" were discovered leading from the home's entrance to the driveway, a police source previously informed Fox News Digital. "At this point, investigators have not identified a suspect or person of interest in this case. Detectives continue to speak with anyone who may have had contact with Mrs. Guthrie," Nanos mentioned on Wednesday. "Detectives are working closely with the Guthrie family. While we appreciate the public's concern, the sharing of unverified accusations or false information is irresponsible and does not assist the investigation."

Trump's call to Savannah Guthrie follows their contentious exchanges during the 2020 election cycle, when Guthrie moderated a town hall meeting with the president. At one moment, Guthrie accused Trump of "sending a lie" to his supporters regarding Usama bin Laden's death, likening him to "someone's crazy uncle." "I always got along very good with Savannah," Trump remarked about Guthrie on Tuesday from the White House, despite their previous disagreements.

The search for the elderly grandmother is becoming increasingly urgent as time passes since her last sighting on Saturday, with Savannah Guthrie leaning on her faith throughout the investigation. "We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity. Above all, we believe in Him," Guthrie wrote in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
