A dramatic video captured the moment when a tire detached from a plane just moments after takeoff on Monday at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. The frightening event occurred around 8:45 p.m. local time as British Airways flight 274 was attempting to take off, as reported by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The footage seems to show the aircraft lifting off, only for a wheel to drop to the ground shortly after it had left the runway. According to FAA officials, the Airbus A350 proceeded to Heathrow Airport in London where it "landed safely."
The Airbus A350 is a wide-body aircraft built for international flights and is among the latest jets in commercial aviation. Having first entered service in 2015, the A350 generally accommodates between 300 and 350 passengers, depending on its configuration. It remains uncertain how many individuals were on board during the incident, and whether there were any injuries.
